The incidence of ASA in infertile couples is 9-36% depending on the reporting center. The prevalence of ASA is 8-21% in the infertile male partners and 6-23% in the infertile female partners. There are several methods to detect ASA. In the past, the clinical interest in ASA was hampered by the fact that a standardized assay for the detection of ASA was lacking. However, it has to be clarified whether each antibody binding to an antigen, which is identified on the sperm surface, also influences sperm function. Several methods have been reported for treatment of immunoinfertility. Most of the available techniques have side effects, are invasive and expensive, have low efficacy, or provide conflicting results. This review article will help to increase our knowledge about diagnosis and treatment methods of ASA.
