Abstract

Background : Apples have been known as nutritious and natural medicines. The aim of this study was to determine the amounts of nutrients compounds of golden and red delicious apples produced in Lorestan, Iran. Materials and Methods: Apple cultivars were harvested from different locations throughout Lorestan province in September 2008. The samples were dried at 80 º C for two days. The dry materials were grounded to analyse the elements. Phosphorous calcium, iron, and zinc and sodium and potassium were measured by spectrometry, atomic absorption and flame photometry, respectively. Other measured factors were energy, protein, carbohydrate, water, ash, and fiber. Results: The amounts of water, soluble solid products, ash, and fiber in red apples varieties were 78, 17.9, 1.44, and 0.72 percent, respectively. These values for golden delicious apples were 77, 16, 1.42, and 0.72 percent, respectively. Energy, sugars, and protein contents of red delicious apples were 73 calories, 18, and 0.27 g/100, respectively. These amounts for golden varieties were 83 calories, 20.6, and 0.2 g/100, respectively. K, Ca, P, Na, Fe, and Zn contents of red delicious apples were 63.8, 27.6, 9, 4.8, 0.24, and 0.14 mg/100, respectively. These values for golden delicious variety were 66.3, 27.7, 8.8, 4.5, 0.23, and 0.14 mg/100, respectively. Conclusion: Energy, carbohydrates, and calcium contents of apples varieties produced in Lorestan province were more than their contents in Iranian Food Composition Tables. However, their iron contents were less than it.

Abstract

Background: Methamphetamine is simply made from available chemicals such as pseudoephedrine, this drug was previously used to treat ADHD, and a major contribution to controlling sexual acts in men and women is through the secretion of the GNRH gonadotropin hormone from the hypothalamus. This hormone enters the anterior pituitary through the portal vessels and secretes the LH and FSH hormone. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between chronic methamphetamine consumption on testosterone, LH and FSH in males.
Materials and Methods: In this study, 30 men with chronic methamphetamine dose referred to health clinics in the city for the use of random sampling method and were assessed. The subjects completed the questionnaire of the Addiction Severity Index (ASI) and transferred to the laboratory after blood sampling.
Results: The results showed that the duration of taking methamphetamine does not affect the amount of FSH. There was no significant difference observed between different times. However, the amount of methamphetamine consumption affects the level of LH and testosterone levels.
Conclusion: Duration of taking methamphetamine has an effect on the level of LH and testosterone, but does not affect the FSH hormone.

Abstract

Background: Breast cancer according to global statistics, is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women throughout the world. The most obvious outcomes of breast cancer are psychological problems such as stress in patients which this lead to reduce the quality of life in patients. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of perceived stress with the quality of life in women suffered from breast cancer.
Materials and Methods: This study is a descriptive-correlation one. The population includes all women with breast cancer who referred to shahid Rahemi Hospital (Breast Cancer Department). Using random sampling method, 300 patients were selected. To measure the variables, the DASS perceived stress questionnaire and the quality of life of cancer patients were used. Data were analyzed by regression correlation and confidence level of 95% using SPSS software version 24 in two descriptive and inferential levels.
Results: The results showed that there is a relationship between the perceived stress and the quality of life of women who suffered from breast cancer.
Conclusion: The results showed that there is a relationship between the perceived stress and the quality of life

Abstract

Background: Cancer is a destructive and usually progressive disease while put too much stress on the patient's family and the society. Therfore, recognizing the factors which are effective in well-being of these patients is very influentioal and important to help to diminish the stress they are experience. This study was administered aimed to determine the relationship between coping strategies with the psychological well-being in women suffered from breast cancer
Materials and Methods: This research was a descriptive-correlation study. The statistical population consiseted of all women with breast cancer who referred to Shahid Rahimi Hospital of Khoramabad (Cancer Department). Using convenient sampling method 300 patients were selected. To measure the variables, the psychological well-being questionnaire of Ryff and the coping strategies questionnaire of Lazarus were used. Data were analyzed in two descriptive and inferential levels by regression and correlation analysis and using SPSS software version 24.
Results: Results indicated that there were significant relationships between the coping strategies and the psychological well-being among the women with breast cancer. But there was no relationship between Emotional coping strategy and psychological well-being.
Conclusion: It is infered from the study results that there is the relationship between coping strategy and psychological well-being. The type of coping strategy used in stressful situations affects the psychological well-being of breast cancer. Considering these results designing the therapeutic and educational programs in area of identifying and applying adaptive coping styles could be helpful in increasing the psychological well-being of these patients.

Abstract

Background: The presence of microbial agents on different hospital surfaces is considered a harmful factor to health. The use of hypochlorous acid (HOCl) for health purposes has been evaluated in more than 50 countries. The present study aimed to assess the disinfection effect of Sanitizon solutions and common disinfectants (Sayasept HP and Sayasept 420) on the reduction of microbial load in Shohada-ye Ashayer Hospital, Khorram Abad.
Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 200 samples from intensive care units were prepared and studied in seven experimental groups (one control group and six different types of disincentives) in six different hospital departments. The samples were cultured on specific culture media. The results were analyzed using SPSS software (version 23). The germicidal power of disinfectants was investigated according to standard 10504 and diffusion method in agar.
Results: The use of disinfectants caused a significant decrease in the microbial load compared to the control group. Disinfection solutions led to a decrease in the number of colonies from 113 to 12. Moreover, all disinfectants had germicidal and fungicidal power according to the standard (reduction of four logarithms of bacteria). The Sanitizon solution succeeded in removing all microorganisms and reducing more than seven logarithms of test microorganisms. Sanitizon caused a more marked reduction of gram-negative bacteria and fungi compared to other disinfectants.
Conclusion: As evidenced by the results, Sanitizon can be used along with other common disinfectant products to clean surfaces. The intermittent use of disinfectants with different active substances reduces the probability of resistance in microorganisms.
