Abstract
Introduction
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the world and more than half of it occurs in developing countries. The prevalence of cancer is increasing in Iran and the world. To prevent and control cancer, it is necessary to determine the burden of cancer and its changes by different factors such as age and sex. The cancer registration system needs to be widely established and closely monitored. The information obtained from cancer registration is of great importance for therapeutic purposes (i.e., inventing and promoting interventions and allocating resources), research and education objectives.

Methods
Residents of Lorestan province from 2014 to 2017 as the target population and registered incident cases of cancer collected from public and private pathology centers, medical records of hospitals and other sources were studied as cases. Crude and age-standardized rates (ASR) were calculated using the standard population of the World Health Organization. The country population census of 2011 and 2016 was considered as a basis for calculations. SPSS v. 26 was used for analysis and a significance level of 0.05 was considered for statistical tests. Confidentiality of patients was considered in all stages of data collection, registration, analysis and publication.

Results
The incidence of cancer in Lorestan is higher in men than women. The most common cancers recorded in Lorestan are stomach, breast, skin, colorectal, lung and bladder. During the study period, the highest age of incidence was registered for prostate, esophageal and gastric cancers and the lowest age was for brain, thyroid, breast and hematopoietic cancers. Cancer registration does not have a uniform pattern during the years of study in terms of residence place or site of cancer. The incidence of some common cancers in Boroujerd city is significantly higher than Khorramabad, which needs further investigation.

Conclusion
The incidence of colorectal and lung cancer in the province is increasing and needs to be investigated. It is necessary to review the cancer registration program so that the incidence rates in the cities have a more uniform pattern and the share of data collection sources is reasonable and in accordance with the standard. The incidence of some cancers in Boroujerd city is higher than Khorramabad and the province, which requires etiological studies.
